Upgraded Observation Camera For Forest River Grey Wolf
Question:
Just picked up my 1st travel trailer yesterday and so far we love it. A Forest River Grey Wolf MK 23 with the prewired and installed backup camera. The camera freezes up about every 2 seconds which prevents its usefulness if you are trying to back up OR to determine if its safe to pull into a line of cars while passing at 60 mph. How can I fix this or do I just need to get a better, more expensive one? The backup camera is by DRIVEN and the unit in my truck for viewing is also DRIVEN.

While we don't offer the Driven model so can't offer troubleshooting, my understanding is that it does not seem to be a system that people are particularly happy with, so my recommendation would be to upgrade it with a higher-quality system. Keep in mind this does mean you will need to hardwire the new system, but it will be a much better option to upgrade, and what I recommend is an option from Furrion:
- Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Backup Camera System with Night Vision # FOS43TASF
This system, which comes with a 4.3 inch monitor, has a camera that has a shaded design so glare in the bright sun won't be a problem, and also has infrared so you can use it without issue after the sun goes down. The camera is also waterproof so no matter the weather it will give you a durable, effective way to observe what is happening behind you.
The 4.3 inch monitor of the # FOS43TASF has an LCD screen which gives you a full color view and you can even adjust the brightness and color to your liking. The best part is it is a touchscreen so there are no cumbersome controls to mess with.
I have added links below to a couple video reviews for you to check out as well of the Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Backup Camera System with Night Vision # FOS43TASF.
