Is the Yakima FullSwing Compatible to Carry Three Adult Bikes on a 2013 Mazda CX-9?
Question:
Hi there, can you please confirm if this will work with a 2013 CX-9 on a 2inch Class 3 Hitch receiver? I am looking at carrying 3 full size bikes and was contemplating on buying this as opposed to using a Yakima swing way adapter with a Yakima 4 timer. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you for all the videos you have. It is amazing.

One important thing to note when using the Yakima FullSwing 4 # Y02465 or the Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks - 2" Hitches # Y02483 is that using these parts will decrease your overall hitch weight capacity by 50%.
With that being said, the Yakima FullSwing bike rack will work on your 2013 Mazda CX-9. One important thing to consider is the tongue weight capacity of your 2-Inch Class 3 hitch. Since the weight of the FullSwing is 56 pounds and adult bikes weigh around 35 pounds, that gives you about 161 pounds of tongue weight to consider. Depending on your class 2 hitch for your vehicle, it should be able to accommodate that weight. In order to know for sure, you can add up the true weight of your bikes and add the 56 pounds of the FullSwing to make sure. With this being said, it is a more economic choice to purchase the FullSwing than the purchase a SwingAway adapter and a comparable Yakima bike rack.
If you want to provide me with the model number of your hitch, I would be happy to verify the weight capacity for you.
