2014 Mazda CX-5 Compatibility With Thule Cargo Boxes
Question:
Thule’s website indicates that the Motion XT L cargo box will fit on factory installed cross bars, but the rear hatch hits the back part of the cargo box when opened. It seems like there isn’t the right clearance for the shark fin antenna even with the cross bars moved as far up as possible.

Is the box moved as far forward as it can go? The box can be moved independent of the bars. If you loosen the clamps inside the box you can move the box forward while the clamps stay in place. In order for your Thule Motion XT L cargo box to fit on your vehicle with no hatch interference your front bars need to be at least 47 1/2" from the opened hatch. If the measurement is less than 47 1/2", we do have other boxes that will work with your vehicle.
The Thule Pulse L Rooftop Cargo Box - 16 cu ft - Matte Black, part # TH615, is a 16 cu ft box that will fit your 2014 Mazda CX-5's factory rack. The box is a single sided opening box that weighs 36lbs. The distance needed from the front bar to the opened hatch is 46 3/8".
