Hitch Setup for Ram 3500 Longbed with a Cowtown Sleeper and Heartland Cyclone 4006 Toy Hauler

Question:

Due to the cowtown sleeper installed in the bed of the truck we have a pretty short distance between this cab and the hitch center point. This distance only measures 24in. We currently have a Highland Ridge Roamer 371MBH that we tow with a BandW Companion and a Reese Sidewinder SW19K. We have to be careful, but this setup gives us good clearance in most cases. We are looking at getting the Cyclone 4006 which has the tight-turn technology corners on the front cap, but the weight is too much for our current Sidewinder so we are looking at new options. I would prefer something like the GenY Gooseneck, but I think out measurements rule this out and force us to use either a sliding hitch or another sidewinder like this RP34FR model. I believe the Cyclone pin box is the 1621SHD model and I dont see that listed anywhere on the site so I guess I have two questions. 1 Does this sidewinder fit the 1621SHD? 2 Are there other setups that could work for our situation? Thanks.

Helpful Expert Reply:

Since your new trailer with "tight-turn technology" will be at least as good as your old trailer for clearance, You could go with the Reese # RP34FR Sidewinder with 1621HD bolt pattern, and rated for 20,000 pounds.

Any other option involves switching the in-bed 5th wheel hitch for a slider which will still not give you the room that the Sidewinder offers.
