Troubleshooting New Brake Assembly Install on Trailer that is Adjusted that Won't Engage

I had to put new brake assemblies on my boat trailer due to rust down in Florida saltwater. I hear the humming sound but the brakes wont engage I have them fully adjusted and I tried moving the switch to a higher number but they still dont engage. Do you have any ideas as to whats the problem may be.

Sometimes this happens when the brake assemblies are installed on the wrong side of the trailer. I'd check to make sure they are both installed on the correct sides.

That's a very good question, we tend to be extra cautious and say to use 10 gauge wire because that would be more than enough. When you get into longer trailers that will end up using a lot of wire the heavier gauge wire becomes more necessary.…
