Parts Needed To Install On-Board Battery On Travel Trailer
Question:
Hello I just bought a small travel trailer that has no battery and no battery hook-up. It has electrical cable and propane.It has 4-pin harness. My tow vehicle has a 7 pin harness. I am not handy. Who could do this job for me it could I do it myself?

I would be happy to recommend the parts you will need to add a trailer battery and 7-way connector to your travel trailer.
You will want to find out how much space you have for the battery, and pick one and a battery box based on the size available.
Next you will need to install a junction box like # 38656 and cut the 4-way connector off and wire it to the junction box. You will also need to add a 7-way connector # H20046 which will also get wired to the junction box.
To run a circuit to the battery you will need # 10-1-1 to go from the positive terminal of the battery to the junction box terminal that the black 7-way connector wire is connected to.
This will put a small maintenance charge on the battery but will not fully charge it. To keep the battery charged while not in use I recommend removing the battery and plugging it in to a battery charger/maintainer like the # CTEK56865 which will keep the battery fully charged and not over or under charge it to prolong the life of the battery.
If you are not comfortable performing this install a local RV dealer or reputable automotive repair shop can do it for you.
