2019 Volkswagen Golf Can I Carry A Kayak With A Yakima JayLow And A SUP.
Question:
Hi, I have a 2019 VW Golf with the Yakima Baseline Towers and Jetstream 50 crossbars installed. Id like to transport both a stand up paddle board and a kayak on my roof side by side and I was looking at the Yakima JayLow to carry the Kayak. I already have pads and straps to attach the board The board is 33inch wide, which only leaves at most 17inch available space on the roof bars. Would the Yakima Jaylow work with that remaining space? Can the Yakima Jaylow straddle the towers? By straddle I mean the tower is inbetween the two clamps. Ive seen videos where thats done but for different roof bars. If yes, I guess that means the full 17inch is available. If not then the available roof bar space between the edge of the board and the tower is only 8.3. Would the Yakima Jaylow work with such a small amount of roof bar space? Ive tried to include a not to scale illustration showing where I want to put the Yakima Jaylow Thanks for your time

The Yakima JayLow Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - J-Style or Post Style, part # Y04073, will work be able to straddle the towers with no problem. I do recommend moving the inside clamps of your JayLow as far inside the tower as you can while keeping the other feet outside of the tower. You still might be able to use the 8.3" and keep the JayLow inside the towers. It has dimensions of L 6.69 " x W 6.00" x H 20.00". I am not sure if that takes the angle of the carrier into consideration but if you cannot fit the JayLow between your bars you now know it can work with one side straddling the towers.
