Will Curt Receiver Hitch C112863 for 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek
Question:
Looking for Receiver Hitch for 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek .. I found two that you offer from CURT.. My Crosstrek has a small cover for access to a factory installable Hitch.. Do not want to pay $400 for factory option.. How far down does the CURT model lower the hitch below the frame mount?? I suspect it lowers the device 6 + inches to be below the bumper.. Please advise.. Thanks

While the hitch manufacturers do not provide specific measurements for the frame brackets on the # C11286 Curt 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch, you are correct that the hitch will sit below the bumper on your 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek. When you look at the design of the hitch, the receiver opening is in line with the cross tube, which means you will be able to see the cross tube running right below the bumper.
Curt has a couple representative pictures in their instruction sheet that should give you an idea of how it will look once installed. I am including the picture I mentioned, as well as links to the entire installation instructions and an FAQ on hitch installations for you to reference.
We also offer a 2 inch hitch for your vehicle, part # C13135, which would be a better choice if you plan on using the hitch for accessories like a bike rack or cargo carrier. Many more parts are available for the 2 inch hitch size than for the 1-1/4 inch size.
If you're going to be towing using the # C11286 hitch you referenced you also need a ball mount, pin and clip, and a hitch ball. The recommended ball mount is part # C45521 and the pin and clip is # F-4. You could use our part # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch ball or part # 19258 if a 2 inch ball is needed.
