What to do if your Tailgate is Still Hard to Lift After Installing the EZ Gate Tailgate Lift Assist

Question:

I installed the EZ Gate exactly per the installation video and the instructions that came with the EZ Gate. Everything went together exactly as the instructions indicated. However, after installation it is still very hard to lift. There is no one hand or foot lifting. I will say it has gone from a two person lift to a one person lift but still requires heavy lifting. The tailgate on my trailer is 48inch and I measured down per the instructions 15inch and installed the eyebolt after adjustments I am all the way through the chain and attached to the wire holder. Is there a way to move the eyebolt to gain more lifting ability perhaps to get to that one handed up and down. or some other fix. Im 71 y/o, I need all the help I can get. Thanks

A few of our neighbors have expressed that their tailgates are still difficult to lift after installing one of the EZ Gate Tailgate Lift Assists for Open Landscape Trailers, part # 3375201000. This is most likely due to the gate being on the heavier side of its 180-lb capacity.

Their solution (and the one I personally recommend) was to install a second one on the other side. Those who have done this have had great success and are able to lift their gates with ease.
