Towing a Trailer With Surge Brake Electric Lockout Without Tow Vehicle Having Electrical Hookup

Question:

I have a Titan 60ZX7000 with an electric reverse lockout that works when plugged into my tow vehicle. However, I need to move my trailer without access to a tow vehicle with an electric hookup. How can I manually override the reverse lockout?

I have a possible solution as your Titan Brake Actuator # T43397007K does not offer a manual lockout.

Since your brake actuator has an electric reverse lockout it will just need to see a 12v current applied to the solenoid to prevent the brakes from working in reverse. The Tow Ready 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter # 20036 would only need to be tapped into the reverse circuit to function when put into reverse.

It can also be wired with the blue(reverse) wire to the positive battery terminal if this is something that you are moving with a machine and not a vehicle that has a reverse circuit. I recommend a In-Line Fuse Holder # C58470-1 with a small fuse as the actuator uses less than 1 amp of power. A Pollak Light-Duty Toggle Switch # PK34513 would allow you to switch the solenoid on and off when needed.
