Trailer Hitch For 2018 Honda CR-V & Easiest to Use Bike Rack For Electra Townie E-Bike
Question:
I would like the easiest to use bike rack for my Electra Townie Go 8i and the trailer hitch that will go with that on my Honda CRV Touring SUV. Please advise. I am a 70 year old woman who needs a rack that will be easy for me to load my bike for the next 10 years or more or so. We also have a 2001 Ford F-150, so its possible that I could use ramps, on it to load and transport my bike. I need what you think would be best for ease of use. Thanks for your help.

We can take care of you with both a hitch for your 2018 Honda CR-V as well as a bike rack that is the easiest to use for your Electra Townie Go 8i. Let's go ahead and start with the option for a trailer hitch I recommend for your 2018 CR-V, which is the following:
- etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98848
The # e98848 is the best option because it has really nice bumper clearance on your '18 CR-V of 2 inches to edge of the bumper, and also because of its matte black finish, which does a better job than hitches with a glossy finish of hiding the inevitable scratches and dings that a hitch receives over time.
Ok, next up is the bike rack for your Electra Townie Go 8i, and there is one rack that stands above the rest when it comes to ease of use, which is from Thule:
- Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # TH903202
The EasyFold XT # TH903202 will work with bikes that have fenders and a step-through frame, like your Electra Townie, and offers a plethora of convenience features which makes it the simplest bike rack on the market to use. One of the things that truly separates it from other racks is that it comes with an aluminum ramp that allows you to load up and remove your heavy bike with minimal effort relative to other racks that require you to lift up your bike just to get it on and off.
The rack also completely folds up and has wheels and a handle, so getting it from storage to your CR-V (and vice-versa) is a breeze. It also installs easily in your hitch; tightening with just the twist of a knob. Then once you load up your bikes, it uses padded clamps grasp the frame, and the clamps have an audible click so you know when they are secure. Once you do that and tighten the wheel straps you're set to hit the road.
Finally, the EasyFold XT # TH903202 offers security for both the rack and your e-bike due to the integrated locks in the clamps that secure your bikes to the rack and a lock in the knob that secures the rack to your hitch, which protects your investments in rack and your bikes.
