Recommended Trailer Wiring To Tow Trailer W/ Trailer Brakes With 2018 Toyota Highlander
Question:
I will have an Autowbrake controller mounted on the tear trailer that is being built for me. I currently have a dealer mounted hitch with four way and 2inch reciever on the Highlander. What are the other components I will need to assure that my tow vehicle is ready to tow the trailer?

Typically trailers that have trailer brakes and need a controller like the Autowbrake Electric Brake Controller - Trailer Mount - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional # 3430001 have a 7-way connector, so you will more than likely need a 7-way connector installed on your 2018 Toyota Highlander.
Since you mentioned your Highlander has a factory installed 4-way connector you will just need the # ETBC7L which will plug into your existing 4-way connector and will just require connecting two additional wires. The white wire will get grounded to the frame of your vehicle and the black wire will get run to the positive terminal of your battery with the included 40 amp circuit breaker.
If the trailer hitch receiver on your Highlander does not have a bracket for mounting a 7-way connector you will also need a no drill mounting bracket like the # 18140.
I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
