Scale For Determining Travel Trailer Tongue Weight
Question:
Good evening! I want to list my rv on a website where you can rent it out. There asking me about the hitch weight. I am relativily new to rving so I wasnt familiar with tongue weights until I came to your site to purchase a weight distribution hitch. While shopping I did see someones comment where they had a 20 foot RV and their tongue weight was 500 lbs. My RV is 21 foot and weighs 3800 lbs. Can you guestimate what my tongue weight is from your experience?

We have an option for you so you can know exactly what the tongue weight on your RV is, but because they come in so many shapes and sizes, and because how a trailer is loaded can make the tongue weight vary significantly, a guesstimate is not something you'll want to rely on by any means.
That said, generally it's somewhere in the range of 10 percent to 15 percent, but I very strongly recommend verifying any tongue weight with a simple tongue weight scale:
- Tongue Weight Scale for Campers and Utility Trailers # e99044
This scale is simple to use, as you just place it under your trailer's coupler; it has a capacity of up to 2,000 lbs so it will certainly meet the needs of a tongue weight on a 3,800 lb trailer. I have added a link below to a video review for you to check out as well of the Tongue Weight Scale # e99044.
