How To Pull Prius With Motorhome While Carrying Two Trikes
Question:
We have a 2020 Tiffin Wayfarer QW Class C motor home with a 5,000 lb towing capacity. A 2inch hitch and 7 pin connection came standard. We want to get a tow dolly for our 2017 Toyota Prius Prime, curb weight 3,365 pounds. Any suggestions? We also want to bring two recumbent trikes with us. I was looking at this trike carrier for one, and was looking at the Sea Sucker trike carrier for the other, mounted on top of the Prius. The trikes weigh 37 pounds each. We would need a dual hitch receiver adapter. Is this doable? Can you recommend a dual hitch receiver adapter? Thank you for any guidance you can provide.

In order to tow your 2017 Prius Prime with your 2020 Class C motorhome I would get the Roadmaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes - 4,250 lbs # RM-2050-1. This can handle up to 4,250lbs which will cover your Prius' curb weight of 3,365lbs. The dolly weighs 545lbs so the combined weight will still be under the 5,000lb towing capacity of your motorhome.
This dolly has integrated electric brakes so you will want to make sure you have a brake controller in your motorhome. If you do not have one then I recommend the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional # 39510 along with Tekonsha Custom Wiring Adapter # 3063-P. This will plug into your factory brake controller plug which is usually under the dash or seat. You will also need to use a 7 way trailer-end harness such as 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector, 4' Long # H20043 to connect the dolly's wires to your motorhome's 7 way.
In regard to mounting two trikes, the only solution at this time is the SeaSucker Roof Bike Rack for Trikes - Wheel Mount - Vacuum Cup Mounted # 298-BD1005. This attaches to the roof of your motorhome or Prius; be sure to grab two of these if you have two trikes. I attached several demonstration videos for you to check out regarding these products.
