Recommended Rectractable Hard Tonneau Cover Options For 2008 Silverado 6-1/2' Bed
Question:
I have a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 61/2’ bed. I want to put a retractable tonneau on it. I’ve noticed that warranties vary from 1 year to limited lifetime. I do not plan to replace my truck so the limited lifetime warranty looks good, however, this product is quite a bit more money than the lesser warranty products. What are your thoughts on the values or lack thereof.

I attached a link which shows all of the hard, rectractable tonneau covers that fit your 2008 Silverado 6-1/2' bed without cargo system. The most economical option is the Pace Edwards Switchblade Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover - Aluminum and Vinyl - Black # 311-SWC0303. This is a really nice setup but it does have a 1-year warranty. This cover does not have the ability to lock unless the tailgate is shut and locked.
The rest of the Pace Edwards covers have a 3-year warranty. I recommend looking at one of these options as I think it would be a good middle ground hence the 3-year warranty and mid-price range. You could look into the Pace Edwards JackRabbit Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover - Aluminum and Vinyl - Matte Black # 311-M-JRC0303. This cover stops at 12" intervals and has an integrated lock which allows you to lock the cover at any position. Built-in water channels and drain tube allow water and debris to run down into the OEM drain holes on your truck.
The only cover that offers lifetime-warranty is the RetraxPRO MX Hard Tonneau Cover - Retractable - Aluminum - Matte Black - Wide Rails # RT80432 which is at the top of the price range. This is also a very nice locking cover, but overall it does not provide more features than the previously mentioned Pace Edwards JackRabbit which is priced a bit lower. Overall I would go with the JackRabbit since it does pretty much everything you would want a bed cover to do, and it comes with a 3-year warranty and is priced fairly in the middle. I attached a few demonstration videos.
