Can Mounting Holes be Drilled into the Inno Ridge Cargo Box to Make it Fit a 2004 Volvo S60

Question:

Hello, I really have my heart set on this box. My fingers poised at the Add to Cart button, but then I just re-checked my measurements. I have a 2004 Volvo S60 and I just put on the Volvo cross bars. The spread is exactly 30inch from the edges of the bars not the centers, unless Im off in my measurements. My question is whether I would be able to drill new holes Ive read people do that with other boxes to make them fit. The bars are square and Im hoping the C-clamps are wide enough that it could work. Thank you.

I have possible solution for you.

First, though, the Inno Ridge Rooftop Cargo Box, part # INBRA220R-BK, does not fit your crossbars, as you said. It fits spreads 30" from center to center, and your 2004 Volvo S60's bars sound like they are over that.

As for drilling, that can technically be done for any cargo box. However, we don't have any documentation for that with this box, so I can't guarantee it will work.

We do have experience with the Trunx Rooftop Cargo Carrier, part # TRX44FR, though. Below, I have linked to a video review of this 8-cubic foot box that shows drilling to make it fit. If you look at the 12:50 mark, you can see how it's done.

Of course, this particular box can only go up to 30", so it won't fit your crossbars, either. This video is to just show you how drilling would work. For the Inno box, the same concept would apply.

As I said, I can't guarantee this would work, so if you are doubting your ability to do it. I recommend going with a box that fits your spread as is. A good one is the Inno Wedge Plus, part # INBRM864MBK, since it fits spreads up to 39". I've linked to a video review of it below.
