How Do I Measure Crossbar Spread On My Roof Rack Properly?

Question:

Hello - Can you confirm if the crossbar spread measurement is from the inside of the bars or from the exterior ends of the bars? My racks are fixed and the exterior spread measurement is 31 inches while the interior spread is 25. Id like to make sure the Inno Ridge Cargobox 8cuft will fit. Thank you

Crossbar spread is a key factor in determining the accessories and loads that the system can safely carry on a car. To properly measure, you will need to measure from the center of one bar to the center of the other. This is the correct way to measure your crossbar spread. For the 8 cu ft Inno Ridge Rooftop Cargo Box # INBRA220R-BK you will need at least 20 inches of crossbar spread and no more than 30 inches for the box to fit.

If your fixed mounting points do not allow this spread, I am happy to help and find you a box that will work! I've included a picture to illustrate and also have a video for you to watch!
