How to Prevent Shackle Straps From Connecting With the Center Hanger
Question:
2020 forest river aurora 28BHS I just installed the K71-652-00 setup into my camper and torque/ greased up everything. When I was backing up the camper onto some boards, while still hooked up to my 2017 f150 I noticed that both rear upper shackles on both sides were impacting the center bracket. It wasnt on much of an angle. After I unhooked and lowered it down to almost level, it wasnt impacted but was close to the center bracket. I see in the installation pages it talks about the static bump clearance and if need would require a bump stop to avoid overstressing. Is that something that would fix the issue Im currently having with running the shackle into the center bracket? I can get an actual photo tomorrow as Im at work currently.

The Dexter # K71-652-00 can cause this to happen if the equalizer is a little larger than the one being replaced. A bump stop would definitely help with you situation. There is also another option, however. Depending on the length of your leaf springs, you could also install slightly shorter leaf springs to give you better clearance. As we do not have any options for the bump stop at the moment, replacing the leaf springs would be the option we have available.
If you wanted to go the leaf spring route, you would need to measure from the center of the to the center of the other eye. This measurement would then have an inch or two subtracted to get you the clearance needed. You would also need to know the capacity of your axles to make sure the correct springs are used. As an example, if you have 6,000 pound springs, the 6,000 pound Double Eye # e78SR could be a good option.
