Parts Needed to Install 7-Way on 2008 Toyota Tundra
Question:
I got a brake connector from you for my 2008 toyota tundra. I installed it just like the YouTube video showed. The problem I am having is my boat trailer brakes lock up in reverse. I tried my other trucks and they all work fine. What can I do to fix it? This what I bought. Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way and 4-Flat Connectors. My 2008 Toyota Tundra doesn't have tow package, is that the problem, all the light work on my trailer just not the brakes?

We have an option for you to add a 7-way to your 2008 Tundra, but you are correct about the issue you are having with your 2008 Toyota Tundra being that the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way and 4-Flat Connectors # HM11143395 is only for Tundra's with the factory tow package.
Instead, in order to add a 7-way to your Tundra you will need to hardwire in a 4-way and then a 7-way with the following two parts:
- Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236
- Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat # ETBC7
I have added links below to video reviews for you to check out as well if you'd like to take a look.
