How To Haul 2 Electric Bikes On The Back Of A Mercedes Sprinter RV And Still Have Rear Door Access
Question:
Please validate my ion for the following RV bike rack system: - Mercedes Sprinter van RV 22 ft - Two EBikes weighing 50lbs each - Both bikes have fenders, so platform, frame mount option required - Want access to rear doors Looking at a Swagman E-Spec with a Thule swing out adapter. Will this system work ok? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

The Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches # S94FR and Saris Swing Away Hitch Extender # SAR36VR will work well together. This is definitely the setup I recommend on your Mercedes Sprinter Van RV since you would like access to the rear doors. This bike rack is compatible with RV's and travel trailers because it is built heavy-duty to withstand the extra bouncing and movement.
The Swagman E-Spec has a weight capacity of 70lbs per bike, so it will be more than capable of hauling your 50lb electric bikes. The tire cradles allow up to 3" wide bike tires; if your tires are wider than 3" then you will need to use Fat Tire Adapter Kit # S64679 which will be able to hold up to 5" wide tires.
The only thing you need to check before going with the Thule Access Swing Away Hitch Extension is the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the face of the hitch on your RV. This distance must be 1-1/2" or greater to use this extender. I have attached a photo that illustrates this measurement, and I have also attached demonstration videos for these products to help you out.
