What is the Speed Rating for Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Trailer Tire

I see it has a speed rating of 65. while traveling out west many times i go a steady 80mph. do you see that being a problem? Is their another tire rated at that speed? the actual size is 5.30x12

The trailer tires we carry are rated for 65 miles per hour at most. Traveling 80 miles an hour will produce too much heat for a trailer tire. The problem is that trailer tires are made with a thicker side wall than passenger vehicle tires. This means that they can get hotter faster and going over the rated speed will lead to excessive heat build up. Excessive heat build-up in a tire can lead to diminished tread life and tire failure.

Radial tires dissipate heat better but are still rated the same, 65 miles per hour. In the 5.30-12 size we only have bias ply tires. I have not seen a trailer tire rated for over 65 miles per hour. You also want to avoid using passenger vehicle tires on a trailer due to the difference in construction.

The 3 tires we have that are 5.30-12 are a load range B, # AM10064, rated for 840 pounds at 55 psi. A load range C, # AM10066, rated for 1,045 pounds at 80 psi. And a load range D, # AM10068, rated for 1,250 pounds at 105 psi.

If you have a 12x4 inch rim you can use a radial 145/R12, # AM10140.
