Can B&W BWRVK2506 Bed Rails Be Mounted Atop A Truck Bed Mat

Question:

I have been unable to find a chat link so am asking a 5th wheel install question via this method. I have a 2016 Silverado 2500HD diesel 6 1/2 foot bed and am considering the BW Patriot hitch and custom rail install kit Part Numbers: BWRVK3270,BWRVK2506. I have a WeatherTech cargo mat installed in my cargo bed. Can I install the BW above-bed rails over the top of the WeatherTech mat or must I alter or remove the mat so the rails mount directly on the bed surface? Thank you for your assistance.

To use the B&W # BWRVK3270 Patriot, the mat would either need to be removed or you can cut holes in the mat for the bed rails. The bed rails absolutely need to have direct contact with the bed floor. If the mat was sandwiched in between the rails and the bed, over time the mat would break down, causing the rails to loosen which would be really bad.

The # BWRVK2506 B&W 5th wheel frame bracket/bed rail kit is confirmed to fit your truck.

If you'd like to install a 7-way trailer connector harness in the bed of your truck so you don't have to run the trailer connector up over the tailgate, you can add one using part # C56000.
