Frame Mount Bike Rack And Receiver Hitch Options For 2018 Chevrolet Equinox

Good afternoon, I am very interested in the Swagman S64683 platform 2 bike rack. I drive a 2018 Equinox and was hoping that will work on my vehicle. I was not sure what frame mount mean? Can you explain.

The Swagman Chinook Tray-Style 2-Bike Rack # S64683 is an excellent bike rack that will work well with your vehicle.

It is considered a "frame mount" rack because it secures the bikes by ratcheting the padded hook down onto the frame of the bike. Other bike rack styles, such as a wheel mount rack, only lock the wheels in place and do not secure the actual bike frame. Frame mount is generally a safer and more stable form of transporting a bike, although some higher end bikes with carbon frames can get scratched by using the frame mount.

This Swagman # S64683 is especially safe and secure, being that it comes with built-in locks to keep the rack locked to the receiver hitch, and the bikes locked to the rack.

If you do not have a receiver hitch on your 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, I would go with the Curt # C77FR. This is a 2" hitch with a max towing capacity of 4,500lbs and max tongue weight of 675lbs, which is plenty for your vehicle.
