Since you did not mention the particular brake controller that you have, I am going to give you some general brake controller information that might help you solve the problem. I am including a link to a FAQ page on troubleshooting a brake controller.
OC would mean open circuit, which means that the trailer is not connected. The brake controller does not recognize a connection to the trailer. On some brake controllers it will also show OC if you are using a brake controller with an electric over hydraulic braking system on your trailer and the brake controller is not designed to be used on an electric over hydraulic brake system.
I would recommend to test your brake controller to see if it is working correctly, but you will need to test it when the OC is displaying, to be able to find out if the controller is the problem. If you test the controller when the OC is not showing it could test fine. I am sending a video link that will show you how to test your brake controller to tell if the brake controller is working correctly.
You might want to also check the blue brake wire going back to your trailer connector and the red wire that attaches to your stop light circuit at the brake pedal.
If you have a brake controller that uses a manual slide lever another trick to try is to slide your manual slide lever back and forth maybe 10 to 15 times to try and get the dirt or dust that might be built up between the slide and the metal strip that is inside the controller. This could possibly be causing a connection problem.
I can try and help you fix the problem with more information on the brand and model of brake controller you have.
