Should I Install a Tailgate Seal with my Lomax Tri-Fold Cover on a 2021 Ford F-250

Question:

I have installed a lowmax tri fold bed cover on my 2021 f250. You have done many installs and posted them on YouTube. I need a bed seal for the tailgate. What would you recommend? I noticed on videos where people install the bed seals that they put them across the bottom of the bed. If this is done and if water would still get in the bed because the cover is open and is raining how would the excess water in the bed get out. Without the seal the water would run out of the area between the bed and tailgate. I understand putting the seals on the sides but I dont see why using it on the bottom. Water does not run up hill so how would water get in the bed except from leaks on the sides?

I recommend using the TrailSeal Tailgate Gasket # 834532001583 and I do recommend using it on the bottom of the tailgate as well as the sides. Even though it might hold water in, it's going to prevent a lot more water from entering through that gap, which will act a bit like a vacuum sucking up water off the bumper and other spots at the rear of your 2021 F-250. I spoke with my tech and installation contact over at Agri-cover, who make the Lomax line of covers and they strongly recommend this installation as well for that reason and say that the benefit far outweighs the detriment.

I've linked an installation video of this gasket for you to check out, as well.
