4 Bike Rack Recommendation For Ebikes

Question:

Hi I have 4 adult bikes, some with low step in configuration. Was looking for transportation options. Due to the lack of consistent bike configurations, it seems like a platform hitch is the most likely option. One of the bikes is electric 58 lbs and the others are standard mountain bikes. Possibly thinking of trading out one of the bikes for another electric, 2 elec, 2 standard. Thats a lot of weight! Are there any options? Currently, my minivan has an aftermarket 2 hitch installed on it which indicates a Tongue Weight of 200lbs. Was sort of zeroing in on this https://www.etrailer.com/p-SA4414B.html but need a sanity check here if possible. Might be that Id need a different hitch? Any advice would be great. Thx

The Saris Freedom 4 Bike Tray Style Carrier # SA4414B is a great option and will work well with your bikes.

It looks like your current bikes, along with the bike rack weighing 53lbs, will meet or exceed the 200lb capacity of your hitch. You could try removing the battery from your ebike to safely travel with the 4 bikes, assuming that your load would be under 200lbs.

If you decide to swap one mountain bike for another ebike, you may want to consider upgrading your hitch to one that has a higher weight capacity.

If you would like to upgrade your hitch, please provide the year, make and model of your minivan then I could help you out with finding a hitch that could accommodate the Saris Freedom 4 Bike Platform Rack # SA4414B along with over 200lb capacity.
