How to Prevent Tonneau Cover Water Leaks
Question:
Many of the reviews talk about water leaks. What is the best way to prevent them with this cover? It is an installation problem, a design problem, and what can I do to ensure the least opportunity for leaks and/or prevent them altogether?

The truth of the matter is that tonneau covers are not 100% leakproof. Do most of them, especially the higher quality ones like the # BAK39133 BAK Revolver X2 do a very good job of keeping the vast majority of the water out? Absolutely. Will they keep all the water out, especially in a continuous hard rain? Possibly not. Anyone who tells you that their tonneau cover will never leak isn't being completely honest with you.
I've seen a $ 250.00 cover that you can drive through a car wash without leaking. I've seen $ 1500.00 covers that leaked. And vice versa.
On a newer, perfectly straight truck with a middle of the road or better quality tonneau cover, the cover will do a good job of keeping the majority of the water out. If you're planning a long road trip, and you have items in the truck bed that can't get wet, wrap them in plastic or place them in a plastic storage tote. When installing the cover, follow the installation instructions precisely, which is the best thing to do in order to be proactive and minimize any leaks.
If I drove a truck, and budget allowed, the BAK Revolver X2 is the exact model I'd choose. I've recommended them to a few friends who have been extremely pleased with them.
