Does the Curt Echo Need to Be Level to Function Properly

When I plug my Echo controller into my 2020 Traverse it is not level. The controller angles down about 15 degrees. Will this affect the operation of the controller? Should I try to bend the mounting plate of the socket to make the controller level?

Regardless of whether or not the Curt Echo # C51180 is level to the ground or not, it will still function properly because of the unit's triple-axis accelerometer. The accelerometer is able to sense the angle that the brake controller is plugged in at and still engages the trailer brakes effectively.

I've attached a video that shows the installation of the Echo on a 4runner where the 7 way is arranged in a manner similar to yours that you can check out and see that it still works.
