In regards to installing a trailer hitch on a 1950's Chevy Truck, the best option would be the Curt Adjustable Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13701. The frame brackets are adjustable left to right so you can get a perfect match. The excess crosstube will then need to be trimmed off. It has a 5,000 lb weight capacity and it's made in the USA.
