Question:

So I can cut the orange and blue wire out of the connector and add tie it to the wires from the plug?

In short, Yes. You will cut the blue trailer brake wire and orange 12v power wire to attach to the 7-way connector. But to install a 7-way connector on your 2007 Ford F-150 you will need Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole # 37185 as the Ford Replacement OEM Tow Package Wiring Harness # 118242 you were looking at will not work on your truck.

When we completed this install we used the No-Drill Mount Bracket # 18136 to mount the 7-way connector to the trailer hitch receiver.

The # 37185 will plug into your existing 4-way connector and require you to ground the white wire to the frame with a self tapping screw. You will need roughly 3-4 feet of # 10-2-1 to extend the black and blue wires from the 7-way connector to the existing wires located on the driver side frame of your vehicle. This wire has 2 wires inside, and you will need to attach the black wire from the # 10-2-1 to the black wire on your 7 way, and the white wire to the blue wire on your 7 way.

Additionally you will also need to Heat Shrink Butt Connectors # DW05745-5 which will be used to connect the orange wire cut from your factory harness to the black wire of the # 10-2-1 you added, and use another butt connector to connect the blue wire you cut from the factory harness to the white wire of the # 10-2-1 you added.

I included a video of the Adapter # 37185 being installed on a 2009 Ford F-150 to help you with the install.
