Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch and Underbed Installation Kit for 2020 GMC 2500 Denali with Short Bed
Question:
Hi I have a 2020 GMC 2500 HD Denali Diesel 4x4 that did NOT come with the OEM puck system. We plan to tow a Jayco 30.5 or Grand Design Reflection 303, both 5th wheels. Is there a package we can install a puck system into the bed to avoid permanent rails in the bed. Also, which hitch would you recommend? The 7 pin location is already there, but would need to be wired and installed, too. Thanks

We have just what you're looking for. For the underbed installation kit I recommend using the B&W Turnoverball # BWGNRK1020-5W, which I really like because it also allows you to tow gooseneck trailers. With the Turnoverball system, you'll then need to use the B&W Companion Slider Hitch # BWRVK3400-5W. The Companion hitch is well known for it's durability and the 1" thick jaw provides great security and 360 degrees of jaw to kingpin contact. Additionally, the fully articulating hitch head helps reduce chucking that will ultimately help with the ride quality while towing. The Companion hitch can be removed from the truck when not in use, and will give you the clear truck bed you're looking for when not towing; it will also work well with either of the trailers you're looking at.
For wiring that will sit in the truck bed, you'll want to use the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole and 4-Pole Connector # HM54FR, which doesn't require any cutting since it fits directly in the factory cutout.
