Recommended Transmission Cooler for 2008 Chevy Tahoe with 5.3L Engine

Question:

I have an 08 Tahoe, 5.3 L, V-8. Wanting to add transmission cooler. However, does my Tahoe come standard with a transmission cooler already? If adding an OEM trans cooler, how is that different from a supplemental cooler or is it not?

From what I was able to find, it looks like there is a transmission cooler already built into the radiator on the 2008 Chevy Tahoe-so I'm not sure there is a true "OEM" option without replacing the radiator. However, you can add a supplemental cooler to help give you much more cooling capacity that the small unit in the radiator is capable of, which is especially useful if you do a lot of towing. I recommend using something like the Derale 8000 Series # D13503, but you could use just about any cooler we've got since they're universal parts. The 8000 series uses plate fins to help disperse heat much better than tube fin coolers, so it's a great choice for your Tahoe.

When installing this I recommend using the Snap In Adapter Fitting for Radiators # D13035 to avoid cutting and flaring lines.

I've linked an installation video for a similar Chevy vehicle for you to check out, as well.
