Gaining More Bumper to Fifth Wheel Clearance with B and W Companion Hitch

Question:

I have a 2011 attitude eclipse 32G2S toy hauler. I recent purchased a 2020 f-350 super duty long bed with the puck/ prep package factory installed. I installed the BandW companion hitch on it but now when coupled, I have 15 inches between the bumper and trailer. Also cannot couple trailer with the tailgate down. This wasn’t the case when I had my short bed truck with a super glide hitch. Not sure what the make is of my current pin box is, but measures 31” in total length. See picture attached. Should I purchase a longer pin box or add extension? If so, can you recommend make and model. Please help, worried I made a mistake going to a long bed and conventional hitch.

To gain a couple inches of horizontal clearance you might be able to install the arms of your B and W Companion part # BWRVK3305 in the opposite orientation they might be in now. See attached picture to see what I mean.

You have what looks like an extended pin box currently so there wouldn't be a longer option to gain more clearance. It's also pretty common to have to fold the tailgate up and down like you mentioned when coupling. We have tailgates that have cutouts for this purpose like the # VG-15-100 which is a fit for your truck as well.
