Does Cutting Wiring of Trailer Wiring Kit to Splice in New Wiring Cause Dash Lights

Question:

Hello, I’m trying to repair my trailer wiring as one of its wires were not inserted into the pin all the way from factory. Am I able to cut the trailer wiring connector that plugs in between my BMW wire and taillight and splice another connector which I know the wire is inserted correctly in to the pin? Or will cutting the trailer wiring change resistance in the wire thus giving me a warning on my dash? The first trailer wiring I ordered failed, so another one was sent out. On the second wiring set, one of the wires were not inserted into the connector pin giving me the left turn signal error. I don’t want to send it back again because shipping for me would cost $

If you were to cut the wiring of your trailer wiring kit to splice in a different harness using the same wiring there would not be a significant of a resistance change that would cause any issues. The Tekonsha kit part # 118789 is a confirmed fit for your 2018 BMW X2 though and our most reliable option so it would work great if you just wanted to start all over new.
