Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2012 Nissan Frontier

Question:

I will be flat towing my 2012 Nissan Frontier 4WD w/automatic behind my Class A Diesel Pusher 10,000# hitch rating. Can you recommend the parts I might need to do that? I understand you do not have the REAR driveshaft disconnect, which I can get from Superior Driveline to protect the transmission from burning up. But what about the transfer case and the FRONT driveshaft. Is that something I have to worry about when flat towing with the engine off? Thanks

While we do have the parts needed to hook up your 2012 Nissan Frontier to be flat towed, the drive shaft disconnects are not something we offer, and are beyond our purview. I know that some products allow 4WD vehicles to use a single drive shaft disconnect that is for use with either a 2WD or 4WD, but we just don't have that familiarity with those products so the best bet there is to ask whomever you are getting the disconnect from, as they should be able to easily tell you that in regards to their products.

As for what we do carry for your 2012 Nissan Frontier, here is what you will need to hook up the truck to flat tow it.

- Base Plate Kit: Demco Classic Base Plate Kit # DM9518186
- Tow Bar: Demco Commander II Non-Binding Tow Bar # DM9511012
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Supplemental Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR
OR
- For a motorhome with air brakes: Demco SBS Air Force One Supplemental Braking System # DM26VR

The Demco Classic Base Plates will allow your Frontier to keep it's clean aesthetic, while the Commander tow bar has long arms which make it easier to maneuver when towing, and integrated safety cables as well as an adjustable tilting head so a high-low adapter won't be needed, saving you from making two added purchases.

The Flexo-Coil wiring kit is great because it is designed to prevent any type of electrical feedback, and both the Stay-IN-Play DUO and Air Force One are strongly recommended because they are a one-time install which will never require any type of removal or reactivation, and because they give you braking proportional to that of your motorhome.
