Components Needed To Flat Tow A 2016 Jeep Cherokee

Just bought a 2016 jeep cherokee overland to tow behind my RV. Says in book under caution that need to use proper wiring kit to power steering system. I know earlier models needed this but thought problem was solved in later models. Do I still need it???? Thank you

You will need to purchase and install Mopar flat-tow wiring kit 68321424AB before flat towing your vehicle, as per Jeep tech bulletin (08-010-17) for the 2014-2018 Jeep Cherokee. This kit is available at your local Chrysler and Jeep dealership.
To flat tow your 2016 Jeep Cherokee you also need the following items:
1. Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms Item # BX1138. This kit, once installed has removable arms which maintains a clean factory look when the vehicle is not being towed. The kit comes with all of the hardware needed to install it except red Loctite, which is required for all mounting hardware.
2. Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System - Proportional Item # BLU37TR. This is a portable braking system which sits in the drivers side floor board. When the brakes are applied in the motor home the braking system applies the brakes in the vehicle in proportion to the pressure applied in the motor home. It comes with a brake away switch which allows the braking system to apply the brakes in the vehicle if an accidental disconnect occurs.
3. Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit Item # RM-15267. This kit allows all of the motor home light functions to be transferred to the tow vehicle by using the factory tail lights. Once installed it is virtually unseen.
4. Etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Blue Ox Base Plates - RV Mount - 2" Hitch - 6,000 lbs Item # e47ZR. This tow bar is a non binding tow bar. Each arm has a lever that releases the lock on each arm when tow bar needs to be removed from vehicle. The tow bar also comes with the safety cables.
5. 12 Volt Outlet Kit, 20 amps Item # RM-9332. The braking system requires a 12 volt auxiliary outlet for power.
6. Loctite Threadlocker 262 - High Strength - Up to 3/4" Nuts/Bolts - 0.20-Fl-Oz Tube Item # LT37420
7. Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles Item # RM-156-25. I recommend this for any vehicle being flat towed. Since the braking system draws power from the battery this kit allows the battery to be trickle charged from the motor home so it is not drained when you get to your destination.
8. Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit Item # RM-751471. This ensures your brake lights in the vehicle do not override the turn signals being transferred from the RV in the RV.
