Switch 12V Constant Running to Reverse Light Pin on 7-Way to 12V Pin to Charge Towed Vehicle Battery

Question:

2008 Leisure Travel Vans Serenity built on 2007 Freightliner Sprinter 3500 Chassis - Towed 2017 Fiat 500 Pop I have installed all of the equipment needed to tow a 2017 Fiat 500 including rm-156-25 in the towed. On the RV, the pin out on the 7 way has a wire going into the charge line position of the 7 way plug, however it does not have 12v with the chassis engine running and not running, and I cannot locate where it goes to in the chassis. There is an unused line on the 7 way labeled as the reverse lights, and this has 12v constant, engine running and not running. Can I disconnect this 12 volts from the reverse lights pin and connect it to the charge line pin to provide the charge line to the towed with 12v?

Helpful Expert Reply:

The previous owner of your 2008 Leisure Travel Vans Serenity could have wired the 12V wire to the reverse light pin. As such, a possible solution to your problem could in fact be to relocate that circuit to the 12V pin.

From there, you can see if the # RM-156-25 is actually supplying power to your battery.

If this doesn't solve your problem or causes any other complications, let me know and I will assist you further.
