I have been looking for clips that would attach my ski racks to the factory crossbars on my Subaru, theyre an ovular shape, should these work?

The Replacement Mounting Brackets and Hardware for Thule Pull Top Slide-Out Ski and Snowboard Carrier # TH753277902 will work with the Replacement Top Mounting Clamp for Thule Ride-On Adapter # 853-5267. Another option is the Replacement 13 mm SpeedLink Mounting Hardware Assembly for Thule SnowPack Ski and Snowboard Carrier # 7521241001. These are compatible with Subaru factory crossbars.

If you have a specific ski rack, there may be specific mounting hardware more suitable.

I went and pulled a #THXADAPT9 from our warehouse to get the dimensions you asked for and the square holes are 1/4 inch by 1/4 inch and are 4 inches apart on center. This only includes one bracket.
