Solution to Deactivate Stoplight Indicator for Supplemental Braking System When Not Towing

Question:

Okay Ill admit that Im confused! Im trying to avoid having my supplemental brake system monitor LED come on every time the Jeep brakes are touched when the vehicle is not being towed! On my 2021 Jeep Wrangler Im using a Demco Stay-n-Play Duo #SM99251 brake controller with the LED brake monitor light attached to the rear view mirror along with the #751490 stop light switch. Im following both the Demco and RM stoplight switch circuit diagrams. Everything seems fine until I get to the stoplight switch. The stop light switch circuit diagram has one side of the switch going directly to a the +12v side of the battery using a fuse block making it hot all the time. The Demco diagram has it connected to the Blue wire on the operating unit this is essentially direct to the +12v side of the battery as well. The second side goes to the supplemental braking system monitor wire indicated Green. But in the Duo system the only green wire in the system goes from the G-Force Controller box to the Right Turn signal lamp? Also the Demco circuit diagram does not show where a second wire termination from the brake light switch? If it is assumed to be ground although not indicated that would mean any time the brakes are pressed the monitor light LED would come on. What Im looking for is the monitor LED to come on only when the G-Force Controller box toggle switch is in the On position.

Since what you are wanting is to prevent the brake light indicator of your supplemental braking system from illuminating when you aren't flat towing it the simplest solution we can offer is to wire in a switch on the power wire of the light like with part # D16740. This will easily allow you to kill the light whenever you don't want it and then flip it on when flat towing.
