Why is the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit Needed for a 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler

Question:

I have a Wrangler JL with push button start and even after sitting, the brake lites activate when pedal is depressed. Are you saying that the circuit is not hot when the Jeep transfer case is in Neutral or some other influencer of being towed? Appears to me that I will need the 88400 relay kit

I cannot tell you the exact "influencer" as you referred to it as but while the vehicle is setup for flat-towing, the brake light switch will shut off after 10 minutes of inactivity. If you open or close the door that will then wake the vehicle up but as you will not be opening and closing the door while in tow you will need to use the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit part # RM-751490 in order for a supplemental braking system to function properly on your 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler.

If you follow the owner's manual procedure for setting up the vehicle to be flat-towed with all four wheels down and let the vehicle sit for 10 minutes without opening or closing the door, you will then see power cut to the brake light circuit. This will hold true for models with the push button start like you have as well.

The Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles part # RM-88400 will not be needed.
