For your Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885, there are 4 wires connecting it. The black wire is your 12v power into the controller. The red wire is the brake light signal input which should be connected to the cold side of the brake light switch meaning it should only show power input when the brake pedal is pressed. The white wire is ground so it should be connected to the vehicle frame or body. Finally, the blue wire is the brake output which should only have signal when the brake pedal is pressed (while moving because it is a proportional controller with inertia sensor) or when using the manual override slide whether moving or at a stop.
I've attached a video as well as a couple help articles for installation and testing. If you already have factory brake controller wiring, there is likely a custom harness. If you don't have factory controller wiring, then you can use the # 5506 kit if you have a 7-way or the # ETBC7 kit if you don't have a factory 7-way. These will have the wiring and circuit breakers needed for a hardwired installation.
