Replacement 23.5" Leaf Springs and 5.3 X 12" Tires for Utility Trailer
Question:
I bought a set of springs,i think 23.5 in for a 4x8 trailer.A friend overloaded it way too much and bent my springs which i tried to rebend to shape on a press. Is this ok to do? They are not perfect. @nd.A carlisle 5.30x12 ,new under 400 miles, burst and lost all the tread.I used 40lpsi for 20+ years and they held 1200 lbs of cargo for many miles so why would a new tire burst?

Reshaping leaf springs is not advised. This will weaken them and potentially cause them to fail. The Universal # SP-113275 Double-eye spring for 2000 pound trailer axles has the 23.5” length you were wanting. I would replace both springs at the same time. I have attached a link to this product page and a video review.
Regarding your tire failure. There are many reasons why you could experience tire failure, which includes operating them under greater loads than what they are designed to withstand. I would also replace both tires at the same time as the still functioning old tire may have the same issues as the one that failed. I would inspect the tires closely to see if there was any uneven tread wear that might indicate a bent axle.
I have included a link to the 5.30” X 12” tires that we carry. You're going to feel a lot more comfortable when you have new equipment on your trailer.
