Parts Needed to Add a 7-Way Trailer Connector to a 2006 Toyota Sienna
Question:
I want to install a 7 pin RV style connector I prefer the combo 7 and 4 pin option, although I already have a 7 to 4 adapter. The wiring kit recommendations for 2006 do not seem to include a powered adapter, which seems like a better option to me. Is it just not really a problem, or might it make sense to use a generic to have a powered converter? I do realize the kit just does the lighting portion and I need to separately wire the brakes and 12V lines. I guess my question boils down to whether you have a plug-in powered converter for a 2006 Sienna.

For the 2006 Toyota Sienna you would need to use the 4 and 7 way installation kit # ETBC7. There is no powered plug in connector available for the Sienna just because the vehicle is not set up for it. If you already have a 4-Way wiring harness on the van then the ETBC7 will be all you need. But if the van currently has no wiring you will first need to install a 4-Way using # 118304. I have linked instructions and a video for this harness.
If you wanted a powered 4-Way converter instead you could use # C59496 but it requires splicing into the vehicle wiring. I have linked instructions for it as well.
Once you have installed a 4-Way (or if you have one already) you can install the ETBC7. I have included some links that will help explain this installation for you.
If you need a brake controller I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885. This is one of our most popular controllers of all time because it is easy to set up and easy to use. I have linked isntructions for it as well.
