Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness on 2016 Jeep Patriot Not Getting Full Voltage at Plug

Question:

Long story short got a 2016 Jeep Patriot ran the line up to the battery recommend sending better butt connectors very all poor quality plus they cant heat shrink had to purchase better quality connectors tested the cable in the back still getting 12V great. Hooked up the rest of the plug in harness to both sides. Ground down some of the paint on the body where the lights are housed to expose metal tap the ground. I test the voltage at the 4 pin plug and it only reads 2 volts in 3 plugs not 12volts all way across. I dont understand why would there be lost in voltage. Is it due to a bad harness new harness came with curt trailer hitch, is the grounding bad in your videos the area where grounds are applied are not ground to the bare metal they are attached over the paint, etc? All wires were inspected.

It is possible the harness is malfunctioning on part # C56333. Loss in voltage like this is normally a sign of a weak ground, but it sounds like you already made sure the ground is good, so we'll need to look at the harness. To check the harness, test the wires before the converter to make sure the converter is getting 12 volts. If the wires are getting 12 volts before the converter then we need to check the wires right after the converter. If you are getting 12 volts before and after the converter then we know it is the ground. If you aren't getting 12 volts after the converter the converter is bad.
