If you have the 6-1/2 foot bed, I recommend using the Anderson Ultimate 5th wheel connection, # AM3225. This unit has a 5-1/4 inch offset measured from the center of the ball in your truck to the center of the top ball on the unit. Measure from the center of the ball in your truck to the back of the truck cab, not the front of the bed. Then add the 5-1/4 inches.

Then measure the width of the 5th wheel trailer overhang and divide by 2. The cab to ball measurement plus the offset needs to be at least 4 inches greater than half the width of the trailer overhang for you to make 90 degree turns.

The reason the Ranch Hitch will not work is because it does not move the pivot point back. Since the trailer will still pivot at the same place only a minimal amount of clearance is gained but not enough to make any real difference.
