Incandescent or LED Replacement Boat Trailer Tail Lights

Question:

I need to replace broken tail and clearance marker lights on my boat trailer. Do you sugest the new LED or old incandesant? How do the wattages compare and also, do you sugest splice kits or crimp connectors and heat shrink tubing?

I would go with LEDs but you would have to replace all the lights on the trailer (or at least all the lights on the same circuit would have to be either LED or incandescent). The reason is that LEDs use much less amperage at the same voltage then do incandescents.

Many LED tail lights are sealed which makes them ideal for boat trailers. When making the wiring connections you would want them to be watertight so shrink tubing would be great.

I have included a link to our LED tail lights. If you do not know the manufacturer and model of the lights on the trailer now then you can go by the dimensions of the lights to find a suitable replacement. Sealed lights would be the way to go for a boat trailer.
