When a brake controller has been properly installed, it definitely shouldn't be tripping the ABS system on your 2001 Dodge 2500 and when this does happen it would lead me to believe that there's been a wire crossed. It sounds like when switching from a 6 pin to a 7 pin like the # 30717, blue brake control wire could've been tapped into the wrong circuit. If the brake controller has been newly installed, it's possible that the red wire from the brake controller has been tapped into the wrong circuit for the stop light switch. The red wire should be tapped into the circuit coming off the brake stoplight switch that only shows power when the brake pedal is pushed.

I would recommend checking there, and also checking any ground wires to make sure that those are firmly connected to a paint and rust free spot on the frame of the vehicle. I've linked our FAQ article on wiring a 7 way connector that you can refer to in order to confirm all of the new pins on the plug are wired correctly.
