Does the 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid Require the Use of a Charge Line Kit While Being Flat Towed

Question:

What is the best way to wire a charge line for a 20 Escape Hybrid?

According to my source at Roadmaster, the 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid does not require a battery charge line kit like the # RM-156-25 when being flat towed by an RV, and there are no fuses that are required to be removed. Adding a charge line kit would likely cause issues with the battery system on your hybrid vehicle so we do not recommend this application.

If you will be using the Blue Ox Patriot braking system then a charge line kit would be a good idea. Just be sure that whatever portable braking system you're using is rated for a Hybrid (like how the Patriot II is).

@JonG - We can concur that with our setup(Class A Gasser towing Ford Escape Hybrid using the Demco Stay-N-Play brake controller) we ran the Escape battery down twice while towing. Short term we have adopted a rest break every 2 hours and run the car for 5 minutes. Long term we are upgrading the electronics battery which is in the trunk under the spare tire and adding a charge line kit.
