Solution for Tandem Axle Trailer with Lippert Ground Control that Has Rear Jacks to Close to Ground

Question:

I purchased this system for my 2020 Keystone Cougar 27SGS. I had my RV dealership install and setup the system for me. They installed the rear legs as high as they could without punching through the floor of the RV. The system works flawlessly, but I noticed when I took delivery that the rear leg pads were close the ground when fully retracted. I would say that there may be about 4inches of clearance between the foot and the ground. Is this normal? What would you recommend? Does LCI make slightly shorter legs that work with this system? I have driven over a couple of speed bumps at a local RV Resort that I stay at and they didnt scrape, but they are very close. Background: I use a 2019 F350 SuperDuty Crew Cab Lariat as a tow vehicle. It has 20tires, full tow package and it does stand a little taller than a normal F350 does because of the OEM installed tires, tow package and suspension. I have lowered my Andersen Hitch as low as it will go and still maintain bed rail clearance. P.S. You may need to enlarge the photo to really see the rear legs.

4 inches of clearance from the ground to the feet of the rear legs of the Lippert Ground Control isn't very much. I could see them scraping at one point but I believe the solution is to get your trailer more level as it looks like it's pretty nose high currently. Since your truck is sitting taller the best way to get the trailer level while still retaining the proper clearance between the trailer overhang and the truck bed rails will be to lift the trailer suspension with a lift kit like part # RR23QX which will allow the trailer to sit 2-1/4 inches higher. This would give you an additional 2 inches of jack clearance plus additional clearance as the trailer sits more level.
