Anti-Rattle Solution Needed for Swagman Hitch Mounted Bike Rack

Question:

In 2018, I purchased a 1-1/4 inch threaded hitch along with a swagman bike rack and a threaded anti-rattle lock from etrailer. The hitch was installed on my 2015 Toyota Avalon. Everything worked perfectly fine, In March of this year, I sold the Avalon and bought a 2017 Subaru Forester. I decided to install another 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch at Uhaul. After installation, I discovered that the hitch was not threaded and the threaded anti-rattle lock would not work. Consequently, bike rack rattles during ride. Uhaul has no idea on how to fix the problem. How can I correct this problem so that the bike rack will not rattle during ride?

We do carry a variety of replacement inserts from Swagman like the part # P313 which is a fit for the Swagman Chinook 64683, G10 64682,Trailhead 63360, and XC 64650 hitch mounted bike racks. If you can let me know what bike rack you have then I can see if we have one that will work for your application.

Aside from that you can add an aftermarket anti-rattle device like the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061-125 to help reduce the play of your bike rack. The Quiet Hitch is a very popular choice because it is a universal application and fits any 1-1/4" hitch that has a collar. Just note that going this route will either reduce the up and down play or the side to side play depending on the orientation of the Quiet Hitch.
